Electra Condos by BOSA Review

LOCATION

Rating: 9 out of 10

Electra San Diego condos are located on the Columbia (waterfront) District but closer to the northern edge of the Marina District. Some would argue that Electra is in the best location that one could ask for in downtown San Diego, just two blocks from the bay and all the developments the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan brought to San Diego’s waterfront but also close to the Marina’s established shops, restaurants and grocery store.

The Santa Fe Depot is just a block away and adds the convenience of having the train station right there for those that commute or use the train service to Oceanside, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, etc.

AMENITIES

Rating: 8.5 out of 10

Electra San Diego amenities are typical for all BOSA luxury high rise buildings: very complete and considered among the best you can find in downtown San Diego condos. At Electra you will find 24 hr security, concierge services, fitness center, pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam rooms, community party room, outdoor BBQ’s plus fireplace, and an onsite HOA manager.

COMMON AREAS

Rating: 8.5 out of 10

The common areas at Electra San Diego are some of the most elegant that you will find among all downtown San Diego Luxury Condos. The main ball room or community room is equipped with a full service kitchen, a piano and many tables and sitting areas. The maintenance in the common areas is superb, the staff at Electra keeps it clean at all times.

INTERIOR FINISHES + FLOOR PLANS

Rating: 8 out of 10

The finishes on condos at Electra as delivered by the developer are very nicely done. You will notice GE Monogram and Dakor appliances, granite counters and wood flooring on most condos & penthouses. Bosch washer and dryer and premium fixtures in the bathrooms and kitchens. The quality of the doors and baseboards is pretty good.

Many condos at Electra San Diego, have been updated after market and you’ll find units featuring upgraded flooring, paint and appliances with brands such as Viking, Sub Zero, Miele, Dacor, Wolf, etc.

Floor Plans at Electra San Diego are very diverse and include 1 bedroom, 1 bedroom plus den, 2 bedroom, 2 bedroom plus den condos, town homes and penthouses from 962 to 1,900 sq ft. There is one residence at Electra with 2,709 sq ft that was created combining two units into one. Nicely laid walk in closets on most units.

VIEWS

Rating: 8 out of 10

Electra condos have some well rounded views including bay, mountain and city views depending on orientation.

South and southwest facing condos at Electra feature incredible bay, Coronado island, city and mountain views, even from the lower floors. The presence of low rise and mid rise buildings in the immediate proximity of Electra protect the views of South facing units and allow for the view to be open and panoramic. However, the Office Depot lot currently in place southwest of the tower will at some point get developed affecting the views of southwest facing units.

West facing condos at Electra are facing the bay but have Pacific Gate condo tower in between partially affecting the views of all units in that stack as Pacific Gate is almost as tall as Electra.

North facing units offers some nice views of the bay and Mission Hills, Little Italy and beyond. However, for north facing units the development of future projects in the area will partially obstruct the views.

East facing condos at Electra offer nice city and bay view to the right but the presence of an office building right across from Electra partially obstructs views for those East facing units. If you are interested in Electra San Diego and would like to tour the building please let us know and we’ll guide you in the right direction and provide an overview of which units might get obstructed views in the long run.

POOL

Rating: 8 out of 10

Electra’s pool deck is very functional and well located within the building as it is right next to the gym, locker rooms, sauna & steam rooms and the outdoor BBQ area. All in the 5th floor of the building which also has a few town home style 1 and 2 bedroom condos.

The actual pool is just about average size. Not a lap pool. The best feature about the pool deck at Electra is that it receives sun most of the day. In the afternoon the presence of Pacific Gate condo tower west of the building will partially impact the amount of sun the pool at Electra gets in the afternoon hours.

FITNESS CENTER

Rating: 7 out of 10

The gym at Electra is well equipped with cardio and strength training equipment. Maintenance in the gym is immaculate. Steam room, sauna and the locker rooms are just across the hall from the gym. Overall a good gym but a bit small considering the amount of units in the building.

MAINTENANCE

Rating: 9 out of 10

The staff at Electra keeps the building in general very well maintained. There is a full service staff in charge of maintenance.

OVERALL RATING

Rating: 8 out of 10

Overall Electra by BOSA features a great location and great views complete with full service amenities. In 2025 the building received a few assessments that affected desirability of the tower which paired with significantly high HOA fees compared to other similar buildings, it has affected property values in the building.
