The Legend Luxury Condos San Diego

The Legend condos San Diego are very unique being that they are the only luxury residences in the country within the boundaries of a major league baseball stadium. The Legend San Diego sits within the boundaries of Petco Park on the East Village District. About 2 blocks away are all the shops and restaurants on the Gaslamp district and about 3 blocks away is the Harbor Drive bridge that connects the East Village neighborhood to the Bay front. If you are a pet owner then you’ll appreciate the park at the park which is one of the very few green spaces in downtown San Diego and is right out your door if you live at The Legend.
GENERAL AMENITIES | Rating 9 out of 10
The Legend amenities are in my opinion some of the best, if not the best, among all San Diego luxury condos. Typical from a BOSA high rise it enjoys full service amenities including 24 hr security, concierge, fitness center, pool, BBQ area, Lounge room, Sauna, Steam room and a one of a kind 7th floor outdoor deck that is unique to The Legend and features a full kitchen with bar, tables and chairs, loungers, fire pits and a flat pannel TV. The best part is that it overlooks the field at Petco Park so if you are a resident at The Legend you can definitely enjoy The Padres games without actually going into the stadium.
COMMON AREAS | Rating 8.5 out of 10
The common areas at The Legend are well appointed, simple yet functional and very well maintained. This include the lobby, outdoor deck, fitness center, pool deck and the rest of the amenities.
INTERIOR FINISHES + FLOOR PLANS | Rating 8.5 out of 10
The Legend condos are very well finished. As is typical with BOSA high rises, the residences at The Legend features hardwood floor, granite counters, upscale stainless steel appliances and solid fixtures.
Floor plans are diverse including a few different 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 2 bedroom plus den condos and town homes ranging from 800 to 1,800 sq ft.
Floor plans at The Legend are compact compared to other luxury buildings in San Diego, specially the 2 bedroom J floor plan that is one of the smallest in San Diego with just 927 sq ft. This specific floor plan does feel a bit boxy and in my opinion is too little square footage for a 2 bedroom unit and unfortunately at The Legend this floor plan is available in every single floor to the exception of the top two floors that are penthouse levels.
CONSTRUCTION | Rating 9 out of 10
The Legend’s construction is solid and reliable typical of a BOSA product. As of May 2012 there are no pending litigation or issues regarding construction defects.
VIEWS | Rating 9 out of 10
The Legend San Diego condos have some of the most unique views from select units that include ballpark, bay, Coronado, mountain and city views. This is usually the case with east and south facing units above the 15th floor. Lower floor units enjoy views to the park at the park. West facing units on the top floors feature city and bay views towards Embarcadero. There is no construction going on next to The Legend that could potentially block views from this high rise complex.
POOL | Rating: 8.5 out of 10
The pool at The Legend is OK. Not my favorite among luxury high rise buildings in downtown as it is not lap sized to enjoy a good swim. However it is nicely laid out next to the fitness center and the pool deck is a pretty good size to lay out and enjoy the sun.
GYM | Rating: 8.5 out of 10
The gym at The Legend is well equipped with free weights, cardio equipment, sauna and steam room. Maintenance is impeccable.
MAINTENANCE | Rating: 8.5 out of 10
General maintenance at The Legend is fantastic. With a full service staff in charge of keeping the building clean and safe there are no issues or remarks to make in relation to the building’s maintenance or cleanliness.
OVERALL RATING | Rating: 9 out of 10
The Legend San Diego by BOSA is a unique luxury high rise complex compared to the rest of downtown San Diego condos. Some of the best features are the amenities and the terrific location just a few blocks to the Gaslamp and the pedestrian bridge connecting to the bay front. A minus are the small floor plans on some of the 2 bedroom units which are less than 1,000 sq ft.
