Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge

After two years of construction and a total bill for $26.78 million dollars the pedestrian bridge next to PETCO park now open.

The bridge was designed to be one of the longest self-anchored pedestrian suspension bridges in the world (550 feet) and it will surely become a San Diego Icon.

It’s design is to resemble that of a sail to fit with San Diego’s nautical history and its main purpose is to link two of San Diego’s biggest assets: The San Diego Bay and Balboa Park.

The bridge crosses Harbor Drive at Park Boulevard and allows pedestrian traffic to safely cross Harbor drive and the train and trolley tracks at the intersection with Park Boulevard. It enables easier and safe access to San Diego’s Convention Center, Petco Park and the East Village District.
